File Specifications

When submitting CAD files, please take note of the following:

General Rules

Scale should be set as 1:1 and units in millimetres
All geometries should be joined at intersections
Lines hidden beneath other lines should be removed
All line thicknesses should be set to zero

2D CAD Files

We can accept a range of file types, however a DWG and DXF files are preferable.

Each job should be saved on one layered CAD file, with material, thicknesses and any engraving on separate layers. A few dimensions on each drawing are always a good idea, as are annotations and notes, to explain details etc.

Each job should be accompanied with a PDF, so that we can compare the CAD file and be sure that no inconsistencies have occurred during conversion.

3D CAD Files

We accept a wide range of 3D files, from solid to surface models, DXF, OBJ, PLY and STL, to name a few. (Please note that mesh files (.STL) can produce a tessellated finish on large items)
